POSITION SUMMARY
Directs all aspects of the organization’s end-to-end supply chain including but not limited to material planning, purchasing, raw material distribution, staff management and warehousing. Develops departmental objectives and procedures with respect to inventory levels and metrics. Manages relationships with key suppliers, Contract Manufacturing, external third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and wholesalers. Utilizes expertise in field's concepts, practices, and procedures to ensure cGMP compliance and promote constant improvement. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inventory Management:
- Develop inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels (strategic and non-strategic), minimize carrying costs, and improve order fulfillment while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement demand forecasting and inventory planning techniques to ensure adequate inventory availability while minimizing excess stock.
- Use data analysis, forecasting tools and market trends to identify demand patterns, and optimize inventory replenishment cycles.
- Develop and understand detailed transactions within the ERP system and their impact on Accounting and Operations specifically item data, purchasing, inventory control, bills of materials and master data.
- Direct activities related to GMP materials: material selection, purchase and inventory control, shipping/receiving and materials storage.
- Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous process enhancements and simplifications, implementing best practices and promoting a culture of operational excellence.
- Partner closely with Finance counterpart to continue to manage operating margin while managing risk.
Supplier Management
- Define and implement global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and External Supply Chain key supply chain business practices and systems to ensure alignment and deliver exceptional service and transparency to key internal and external partners including Manufacturing, Quality, Commercial, and Finance.
- Own relationships with strategic CMO, 3PL’s and wholesalers, including contract management, planning, compliance and operations oversight.
- Responsible for DSCSA compliance for all applicable programs as the system owner and facilitator of exception management process
- Collaborate with legal to review and implement supply agreements with key suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing and maintain standard cost data for the organization.
- Manage operating budget and allocate resources to optimize business results.
Overall Management
- Manage and mentor a team of supply chain and materials professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence.
- Provide leadership of cross-functional projects and teams to ensure successful completion on schedule and within budget.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in production operations management or related field.
- Supply Chain Management certification(s) (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, SCOR-P, CPM, etc.).
- Minimum of 10 years practical experience in Materials Planning and Purchasing.
- Minimum of 5 years of organizational leadership experience.
- Demonstrated record of career progression within field.
- Expertise with budget, forecasting and materials management.
- Experience working in a CGMP/FDA regulated environment.
- Demonstrated expertise with ERP systems, 3PL and CMO oversight.
- Experience with compliant serialization in an FDA DSCSA environment.
- Highly effective and professional communication skills with employees and supplier representatives at all levels.
- Established track record of mentoring and developing staff and building high performing teams
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Travel of up to 5-10% expected
